Manchester United Gives Ten Hags Big Funds To Get 3 Star Players
Manchester United are reportedly set to give Erik ten Hag up to £120m to spend on transfers this summer. That amount of funds will also be added to the cash obtained from the sale of players.
The Dutchman will meet again with United officials on Thursday (19/5/2022) after he will carry out his job at Old Trafford in the 2022/23 season following his departure from Ajax.
While Ten Hag wanted to take a break to recharge, he also wanted to confirm his position at the Premier League club before starting his job.
Top on the agenda - apart from managing his staff - is the summer transfer business, with the view that United need many new additions.
According to Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf, Jurrien Timber, Antony and Frenkie de Jong are the three names currently on the table of MU officials who want to invest funds of 120 million pounds.
Antony is currently valued at £50m, while De Jong will cost up to £70m - if Barcelona are prepared to let him leave Catalonia.
Apart from that, Timber could also spend a lot of money with Bayern Munich also on the other hand being interested in the young defender.
However, Ten Hag is likely to give United the edge over their rivals when it comes to battling former players Antony and Timber.
The Brazilian winger has outlined his desire to play in the Premier League with Liverpool also monitoring the situation.
"Ajax is a place where I feel happy. But of course, I sometimes think about a future move," the winger said in early April.
"The Premier League and La Liga are leagues that I think are beautiful. When the time is right, I hope to play there."
Ajax chose not to bar Ten Hag from signing any of their current players this summer.
That could give United an incentive to squeeze their former club out of their most valuable assets Lisandro Martinez and Sebastian Haller.
Ten Hag is expected to be present on Sunday when United finish their Premier League season finale against Crystal Palace.
The 52-year-old will look to the current squad to gain a greater understanding of what he is working on.
So far, five stars have left the club including Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani.
The money saved on player salaries is expected to be reinvested in player purchases, given the number of loopholes that need to be introduced into United's squad.
